Beginning to Break Bread
This was The Cherilus Heritage Foundation's third undertaking. On July 29, 2023, we established a feeding center as part of this project. Within the event, Haitian people had been waiting since 10am, even though we only began serving food at 4pm. We opened up in prayer before distributing the food in order to bless it and the people who had gathered to eat it. Additionally, we had transported the food from our first project's barrels. To ensure the success of the feeding center, we also made purchases in Haiti such as meat and compostable cutlery. In terms of food, we served chicken, juice, and rice and beans. Due to a feeding center being a rare occurrence, the people were extremely happy. Following the distribution, the Haitians surrounded Samuel Cherilus. They voiced their concerns over the supply of food, running water, shelter, and the lack of education. Generally speaking, a feeding center can provide essential nourishment to the less fortunate, ensuring they have access to regular meals and proper nutrition. It can also serve as a safe space where individuals can receive support, connect with others, and access additional resources for their well-being. It can be said that the feeding center provided insight on major issues in Haiti. Overall, this project put us on the right track to taking in the concerns of the people and doing great things as The Cherilus Heritage Foundation in the future.
